Our Man In Manchester

Our very own John Conway journied down to Manchester this week to represent Potts Print (UK) at The Bruntwood Awards for Arts & Business North 2011.

From quarry companies, to hotel chains, solicitors and international airlines working alongside theatres, orchestras and visual artists – the winners of these awards showcase the current health of partnerships between culture and commerce.

Divided into six categories, the awards celebrate business success including young people, cultural branding and people development.

Michael Oglesby, Bruntwood Chairman, said: “This is the first year Bruntwood have sponsored the Awards and we are proud to be involved at a time when celebrating partnerships between business and the arts is more important than ever. The Arts & Business awards show the real achievements that can be made when the commercial and artistic sectors work together.”

Brenda Parkerson, Director of Arts & Business North, added: “It is significant to see businesses support the arts in this way – we believe there is a clear commercial rationale for this engagement. A good relationship between an arts organisation and a business can enrich both the company in terms of marketing and benefits for employees, and the arts organisation in terms of funding and expertise. Supporting the arts is something any business can be proud of, and never more so than in these austere times.”
