This week’s Thursday 3:30 comes from Amy Smith of Benchmark Communications, the events company behind the NewcastleGateshead Art Fair, who sent us this shot of the venue being set up. The Fair officially opens on Friday 30th September at The Sage Gateshead, with a VIP preview evening happening tonight.
The website says:
“The NewcastleGateshead Art Fair, now in its fifth year, has cemented its position as the largest commercial art fair in North East England, showcasing the work of up to 50 galleries from overseas and across the UK. The Fair gives the opportunity to buy work from established and emerging galleries with an extensive range of unique and affordable art works including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, photographs, prints and glass. Price tags range from under £100 to the several £1000s.
“Alongside the art there will also be expert advice on buying and collecting, a packed seminar programme, children’s activities and the return of the Emerging Artist Showcase, under its new title ‘The Curators Selection’. The ever-successful Curators Selection is a display of 15 unrepresented artists’ work from the North East, selected by top local curators, gives visitors an ideal opportunity to catch these up-and-coming artists at an early stage of their career.”
