Stop Press! Michael Sandford-Couch Wins Award in North East Business Executive of the Year 2011

It was drinks all round for the Potts Print (UK) table at the North East Business Executive of the Year 2011 awards last night, as Michael Sandford-Couch won the Tyneside & Northumberland Business Executive of the Year category.

This year’s judges were looking for ‘drive, dynamism and leadership’ – qualities that the Chairman & Chief Executive of Potts Print (UK) has in spades. The event programme introduced Michael as follows…

‘With foresight and shrewd investment, Michael Sandford-Couch leads a thriving business through challenging times for the printing industry. Potts Print (UK) supply printing, packaging and direct mail and dates back to 1875. Clients include international corporations, retail, pharmaceutical and other private sector firms, also universities, NHS and other public bodies.

‘In 1995, ten years after joining as a trainee, Michael was heading the company having produced a plan that led to sales doubling. Within three years, the company was heavily into new technologies.

‘In 2006, £2million more was invested in equipment. Cramlington, where further expansion looks certain, became the new home. This year £1.5million more has gone into equipment as turnover nears £14.25million, and 26 more staff have joined the 165-strong workforce. A ten-year growth plan suggests turnover will reach £25million by 2020.’

Michael says: “Moving into a larger premises gave us a head start on the recession.”
