Thursday 3:30 | Lumiere 2011, Lighting the streets of Durham

This picture is from the light show, Lumiere 2011, which took place in Durham from the 17th – 20th of November. This photo was taken by Ken Pearce of the Potts Print (UK) Business Development Team, and is only one of many attractions at the event. In 2009 Lumiere brought 75,000 people to Durham to see these spectacular attractions, where as when the event took place this year, it attracted a massive 140,000 people over the four night event.

Ken says: “Lumiere was a very credible event, it was enjoyable for both young and old and demonstrated the commitment of the North East in general to position itself as an Art & Design hub. The contrast between the old historic city of Durham and in particular it’s monuments and world heritage sight, alongside the ultra modern installations, was truly inspired. HOWEVER £5 for a double edged Darth Maul light sabre was scandalous – not being able to afford two, meant my son went without!!”

Thursday 3:30 is a photo-blog which is posted at, you’ve guessed it, 3:30pm on Thursdays. If you’re an employee, client, supplier, friend, relation or fan of Potts Print (UK) you can send your photos for a future Thursday 3:30 – just email it to with a bit of info about who you are and what your photo is about. It doesn’t have to be professional, just interesting. Keep it clean folks!

Best wishes,
