Training & Skills Academy – Holly’s Story So Far

TyneMet College student Holly Musgrove is starting her 6th week at the Potts Print (UK) Training & Skills Academy. Here’s an update on her progress…

What have you done on your placement so far?

I’ve done some real jobs and some semi-made-up jobs. I’ve done a ticket wallet for Playhouse Whitley Bay, a few adverts to help Sarah out, an internal job or two and some logo design.

Have you learned anything new since your placement started?

Of course. I’ve learned a lot about how artwork is prepared for print, as well as print terminology. And I’ve learned how to use Quark Xpress.

Have your views about doing (or not doing) graphic design after university changed?

Actually I’ve enjoyed it more than I thought I would, so possibly.

Is there anything you’d like to learn or experience that hasn’t been covered yet?

Not that I can think of at the moment. I’m not too shy to ask if there is though!
