TyneMet College Further Education Student Awards Results

The TyneMet College Student Awards 2011-2012 have been announced. Dan Tobin, Executive Director of main sponsor Potts Print (UK), was pleased to present Alex Hammond with the Overall Student of the Year Award at the ceremony at Whitley Bay Playhouse.

Dan said: “It’s always a pleasure to work with TyneMet College, and we are proud be involved with the Awards again this year. Congratulations to Alex Hammond from all at Potts Print (UK).”

Alex also won the Sports Student of the Year category, presented by Newcastle Eagles.

Alex said: “I am thrilled to have been awarded the title of Overall TyneMet Student of the Year. I have really enjoyed my last two years at College. The teachers have been really supportive and have given me good advice regarding study schedules and research that I needed to do to successfully complete my course units. The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Exercise and Science has been really interesting and has given me the grades that I needed to meet the entry criteria to apply for Bath University. I am so happy to have been offered a place there and I am really excited about starting life at university.”

The ceremony was opened by the Maddidoll Studios dance group, sponsor of the Childcare Student of the Year category.
