“The first step towards managing carbon emissions is to measure them, because in business what gets measured gets managed.”
Lord Adair Turner, Chairman, UK Financial Services Authority
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent not-for-profit organization working to drive greenhouse gas emissions reduction and sustainable water use by business and cities.
The project is backed by 655 institutional investors, representing $US78 trillion.
UK Government has made an announcement that it will mandate the reporting of greenhouse gas emissions by companies quoted on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market.
The UK must now take a position of global leadership by introducing regulation that ensures companies are required to make a full assessment of how climate change is expected to affect their business.
What affects PLC’s today, will in time undoubtedly affect most other organisations.
If this isn’t at the top of the Corporate Social Responsibility policy agenda now, it soon will need to be. So if CSR is new to you, this could be a good place to start…
