About this time last year, Potts Print (UK) communications manager Laurie Cansfield started filming a documentary about a pub. The film, entitled The Vaults, tells the stories of a few of the characters who drink at The Museum Vaults in Sunderland, and asks the question ‘What is a proper pub?’. It was finished in February this year, and since then has been shown around pubs in the north east to audiences both large and small (and tiny).
After being seen by a few reporters from the local press (including the Sunderland Echo, Cheers Magazine and Kyeo.tv) it has been added to the line up of a new North East short film and comedy festival called Stand Up For Shorts. The event will take place at the Star & Shadow Cinema in Newcastle, where The Vaults will be shown alongside other shorts films and live comedy by regional artists.
There is currently a campaign running on www.indiegogo.com/projects/stand-up-for-shorts for people to pre-book their tickets for the show (featuring 9 films and 4 comedy acts, including Seymore Mace) which will include a charitable donation to Cancer Research UK. And the best part is it’s one of those European-style cinemas you can drink beer at!
Please follow Stand Up For Shorts on Facebook for info about the other filmmakers and comedians involved in the festival, and follow The Vaults on Facebook and Twitter for updates about the film. Meanwhile, here’s a trailer featuring Emma the barmaid…http://vimeo.com/68362715
