Two of our staff are being hailed as local heroes this week, after finding a lost dog that went missing in The Pennines at the weekend. Alan Dawes from the Print Production Team and Alan Guthrie from the Print Finishing Team spotted the dog in the Cheviot hills last Friday before learning that it was reported missing. After recognising the dog on a lost pets website, Alan Dawes decided to get in touch with the owner (via Radio Newcastle) and go back to where they had spotted it.
The two Alans took the dog’s owner back to the area of The Cheviots where the deaf albino Collie named Pooley was last seen, and amazingly enough it was still there! Alan Guthrie spotted Pooley in the distance, lying down and completely still. They thought she may be a gonner, but as they walked down to where she was lying she stood up and all was well.
The owner was over the moon, and she and Alan Dawes were interviewed on Radio Newcastle the next day – where Alan, never missing a trick, managed to get Potts Print (UK) a mention on the air. Thanks to the efforts of a couple of top blokes (or should that be top dogs?) Pooley is now safely back home.
